Children are a blessing

Evelyn has conquered keeping her head up without support. Everything goes in her mouth. She likes to play play play..... Reminds me of her brother.

Evelyn is quite tired after our morning walk.

Evelyn always has a smile ready.

This particular day was Sunday. Rhett decided he could not wear his sneakers to church, it had to be his rubber froggy boots. Forget the fact it was in the nineties.

Always chillin

This hummingbird has visited us twice while we were having dinner. It took many clicks before we got the right picture. We look for him each time we eat and have not seen him again. Rhett keeps asking -"where did he go?"

Kristin loves picnics and the weather has "cooled" down. 50s in the morning and high 80s during the day. So we have taken advantage of the cooler weather and gone on two picnics this week. Each time we saw a gator. In the picture with Rhett there was a gator not far from the swimming area. Luckily no snakes even though it was advertised not to touch the endangered indigo snake. Nice snakey, nice snakey......

Georgia flowers.

We have planted a fall garden. Once again we are going to attempt to garden. Our vegetables in Alaska were an embarassment. But then how many tries did it take Mr. Edison to build the lightbulb?

Evelyn is 4 months old!!!

Evelyn has found her thumb and likes it very much.

Chillin like a villin with her pet dog. She is my happy baby. She was grabbing onto a rattle today and liked the noise. We are so blessed for Evelyn to be a part of our lives. Our miracle from God.

Having Fun Being Parents

Evelyn was excited she was able to wear her Gator outfit.

Evelyn has so many facial expressiongs. She likes to grab things and put them in her mouth. She is blowing "bubbles". The bibs are out and being put to good use. She watches her big brother and I am sure she is planning some ways to get him back for all the times he has gotten her. Our hands will be plenty full once the two of them start planning scams on their folks.

Rhett loves his bat and ball. He lets his mother know if she puts the ball on wrong. He is quite good hitting the dog with his ball. Trevor has learned to get out of the way. He is talking more and more. "tank you", WET, BAT, put it back, boom, are some of the newer words. He knows how to do the gator chomp. Horses are still called "moo" for moose, but he does realize that cows say moo. He lets us know where there are fire ants and has learned not to touch them. Unfortunately he got in a bed of them. His ankles looked so sore.

What a great helper. When we go outside to garden we are always getting dirty and wet. Rhett has the job to water.

Church had a dinner night at a family restaurant. One could order grits: plain, cheese, buttered, buttered and cheese. Lets see alligator tail, or frog legs for an appetizer. The main dish was catfish which could be ordered whole or in parts. With the entrees came cole slaw, crackers, pickles, french fries, and hush puppies. After eating we went outside to check out the alligators and turtles in the pond.

The weather is still in the high 90s and humid. Grilling is the way to cook so the kitchen does not get hot. Burgers, chicken, sausage, fish, veggies, and fruit taste so good on the grill. We will have to try pizza one of these days.

We went for a family walk yesterday and there was a commotion among the neighborhood boys. So Brian had to check it out. A water moccassin was in a bush. Yikes!! Luckily one of the dads saved the day and shot it. Kristin wanted to scidaddle from the area but Brian wanted to stay and watch the "excitement" in on our road. Kristin took the kiddos for a walk this morning and luckily no snakes, just birds, dogs, cows, and horses.

Live life to the fullest

A week ago Monday the moving truck arrived in Georgia! Yeah!! It is amazing how little you can live without.

Evelyn was pretty excited to get back in her crib. She has been sleeping through the whole night for the past few weeks. A great blessing!

Football season --Rhett is ready. He loves life. Runs everywhere. A very good boy.

Trevor the dog is old and good especially when a little boy climbs all over him.

Tropical Storm Faye

Tropical Storm Faye arrived August 22-23, 2008. Rained and rained. On Saturday Brian and family decided to go for a ride in our neighborhood. The above picture is our neighbor's lawn as the water rushes into the street.

We found a trucker having some fun!

This area was all grass, but the birds found a little island to land in. Notice the house in the background. It was surrounded by water. Sand bags did not help, unfortunately. The cops had to close the road the water was too deep.

Our back yard. We ended up meeting one of our neighbors. Their car stalled and they were ready to walk back home. They hopped in the bed of the truck and got a ride. Kristin took the kids for a walk Sunday morning and it was blue sky and sunny. Would have not guessed it had rained for a few days. Granted the rain came again later that afternoon and on Monday. Actually, it usually rains hard every afternoon.

Our Cutey Pututies

Rhett loves to get his picture taken with his sister. In Georgia they call sister "sissy". In Maine it would be "sistah".
Evelyn having Daddy time.

Cachoww! My karate baby.

Evelyn loves to look at her hands. She is starting to grasp her clothes. Bibs are a must now with all her blowing bubbles techniques. Our children are such joys. Cannot imagine life without them.

Peaches!!! Kristin had a great idea for last weekend. Family time-- picking peaches. So off we went to Barney and Morvin, GA: only to find that peach picking season was finished. Buying peaches at a local farmer's stand had to do but not as much fun. Brian was able to have his peach cobbler and Kristin was able to freeze peaches for the first time. Quite easy, but will wait to see how they taste. The season starts in April (goes through August), that is where we will be next April picking peaches and in May is when strawberry season begins. Just happens to be a strawberry field up the street from us. Yippee Skippee!!!

FYI: Technology has arrived when we can hook our cell phone to the computer and receive internet. Saves money. Yahoo!!!!

Evelyn is three months old!!!!

Chillin like a villin. I rolled on my side today. All the grandmothers in the church love the way I smile. I like to give them a showso I laugh to make them laugh.

Hanging with the bro

Pictures with my Mommy. Nana I hope these are okay to you. Let me know which one you like and I will send you one unsized. We do have others you can choose from.

Both boys are chillin like a villin.

Reading time on Great Grammie's wagon. Thank you, we keep all our books in it and occasionally a boy likes to sit in it.

Life in Southern Georgia

Nana, bought me this cool ABC blocks. My mom thought it would be a great padding on the back porch to play on. She and her friend took some time to get it this way. Well, I can remove it in 3.2 seconds. She put it back together again and I removed it again. FUN oh FUN!!!!

Playing on slides are fun. I thought moving to the south would be easier to get ready to go out and play without any snow gear. Boy, was I wrong. Mom makes sure we load up with sunblock, and always have to have a hat.

My Baby sister Evelyn, is cooing and gaaing. She loves to laugh and smile. She can blow bubbles. She loves her baby bear and tries to grasp it and moves it all around.

Right here is my backyard. Mom likes the pretty flowers but keeps talking about planting some of her own but it has been HOT. The farm is the view we have looking at our backyard. Some times we can see a bull cow (not a moose) and hear him mooing. Very confusing if you ask me because "moo" is what I call a moose and mom says a bull cow "moos". But then again I thought a bull was a male moose and a cow was a female moose. The pile of dirt is a hill of fire ants. I have not met them yet but mommy says they are a big "owie" so sounds good to me to stay away. The lizard visits my porch quite often. The pile of wood is for the fireplace. Mommy says that is crazy because it does not even snow here.

We had not lived in Georgia for two weeks when mommy was asked to go blackberry picking. Do to her addiction of picking berries she had to say yes. She packed Evelyn and I and off we went. It even rained and we just kept picking. God knew just what Mommy needed. It was a blessing.

Blackberry cobbler

Blackberry Dubin-- one of the ladies who we picked with made. Yummy with ice cream. Below is frozen blackberries. Yummy as a snack.

Yesterday the temperature went as high as 110F above. Craziness!! Mom would let me outside for a couple minutes at a time. It rained loud and hard and the temperature decreased by 30 degrees. Unbelievable!!

Finishing the trip to Georgia

Evelyn with Grandma and Grandpa.
Their first Grandaughter. Not many girls born on Brian's side.

After two days of driving we made it from Maine to Georgia in our minivan. The kids did a great job!! Thankfully we did not have to drive it with them from AK to GA. We were welcomed with 100F weather and the next day was 104F. God has a sense of humor. Our home is open for anyone who needs a place to visit in southern Georgia. Let us know you are coming and we will leave the light on for you.
